Privacy Policy

Your privacy seems like it should be important to us. This policy has been developed in order for you to understand how we collect, communicate, disclose and make use of personal information. The following outlines our privacy policy.

  • Before (most notably within this document) or at the time of collecting personal information, the purposes for which information is being collected will be identified.
  • We will collect and use of personal information solely with the objective of fulfilling those purposes specified by us and for other compatible purposes, unless we obtain the consent of the individual concerned or as required by law.
  • We will only retain personal information as long as necessary for the fulfilment of those purposes.
  • We will collect personal information by lawful and fair means and, where appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned.
  • We will protect personal information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.

Note that we, like many other web sites, store all our data on third party host servers that may have access to information collected by us. If you wish to do so review their policies at www.ventraip.com. Also note, that it is possible for your information to be intercepted on route to the server, just as it is with many sites.

Details of data collected and its use

This list is to provide you, the user, with an understanding of what data we collect and the purpose(/s) for which it is collected. It may not be a complete list as the format of a web site means changes are made frequently and the accuracy of information easily outdated.

  • Anonymous data is collected each time you access the site (this includes your I.P. address and pages visited). This is common practice with most sites on the internet. This analytical data is used to allow us to block those abusing our site and provides us with a better understanding of what you the user want, allowing us to provide more material along the line of what is popular. The data collected is not used for other purposes.
  • Cookies are placed on your computer to recognise you when you comment, so you do not have to re-enter your information, and to help discern if you have already responded to polls, and the like. Please remember if you are using a public computer to clear your cookies once you are finished.
  • Gravatars are used by this site. Your email address is sent in an encrypted form to gravatar.com to check whether you have an account there and if so display your personalised avatar.
  • All comments go through the spam checking service Akismet (akismet.com). This is essentially anonymous and significantly reduces the time needed for moderation. In any case all comments are publicly viewable so they may be used by any entity that accesses the site.
